I'm enjoying my Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley book... and here are two things I've learned about Annie who was a sort of odd character.
Her real name was Phoebe Moses, and she took the "Oakley" from the area of Cincinnati where she lived... and I spoke with my client in Cincinnati who confirmed Oakley is still a neighborhood.
She was so modest about her body that she arranged to have a female undertaker, which had to be hard to find in those days, but they found her one. Now, THAT'S modest!

That's a fascinating bit of info about Annie, not to mention the woman undertaker. Wonder how, why she became an undertaker. You make me want to read the book. Enjoy!
