It's been recommended that I get a shingles vaccination within the next few months. Just recommended. Anybody have one? Any thoughts?

I just got one a few weeks ago. Since my dad had shingles when he was sick and it was very painful, I thought it was a good idea. Painless shot too -- the pneumonia one hurt the next day but I never felt the shingles one.
My sister, who is an RN, recently suggested I get both. I plan to do so. And next year, it's a flu shot for sure (after getting the flu for the first time in Feb.
Had the Shingles shot a couple of years ago ... have known people who've had shingles and it's not fun! I understand it's possible to still get shingles even if you get the shot, but generally the outbreak is a lot less severe.
Also had the pneumonia shot last fall. If you have any respiratory issues, that's a good idea, too.
Don't remember my arm being too sore with either one ... maybe a bit more with the pneumonia shot.
I was told the same thing about the vaccination not being a guarantee of not getting shingles. And I have heard stories about how painful shingles are -- and ugly too!

My mom had shingles, it is just terrible pain. The vaccine makes a lot of sense. I made Bob get one last year, and I plan to do so myself soon.
I got the pneumonia one when I was in the hospital... they asked me if I wanted it and I thought why not?
