Just what the doctor ordered

My cleaning woman had some lump/bump of the sole of her foot, on her heel, that was very painful, especially early in the morning. She had ignored it for a number of years and eventually it got worse and too painful to ignore.

So last week she had some kind of shot, an equally painful injection into the bump/lump, which has worked well. The doctor suggests one more injection next week and then wait and see for three months.

The point of telling you this is the exercise the doctor recommended which I think would be good for aching feet -- you'll know if this helps yours. He said to take a plastic water bottle, fill it with water, then freeze it. Put it on the floor and roll it back and forth with the sole of your foot. She loves doing this. I love anything like that that's cheap and I admire the doctor for providing a home remedy.

I asked her why she got this lump -- she isn't totally fluent in English -- but she said that the doctor told her it happens to people who are on their feet most of the time. And Ana does have a job folding clothes in a laundromat so she is standing alot. I'm just glad this shot seemed to work. So far, so good.

  1. I think the worst pain I've ever felt was in the bottom of my heel. I screamed! Then he did the other foot and I screamed again. It was a cortisone shot, and it did work. My current orthopedic guy says the ones in the foot are the most painful. I've had cortisone shots in my knee and my shoulder, and all I felt was pressure, but on the bottom of my feet -- that was hell.

  2. I had bone spurs on my heel twice on the same foot. That alone was excruciating let alone the shot. One doctor told me that if one puts the cortisone in slowly, it won't hurt as much. It really did not hurt as much. Another doctor told me that was nonsense.

  3. Ana told me she cried it was so painful and the foot was tender for about 3 days. She is not dreading the second shot as much only because the first one improved the situation so much. Her husband (loves these guys)told her, in effect, "better you than me."

  4. Please tell Ana to tell the doctor to inject it very slowly. I swear it works...it did for me. They just don't want to take the time. If she can't tell him because of a language barrier, write a note for her to give to the doctor.
