So another year rolls around again, and I have to express gratitude that I am here and kicking. Having a birthday on a Tuesday is not so exciting and I really couldn't think of how to celebrate -- went through the usual list of things. In the past, Stephanie and I would share our birthday and go out to dinner but now we can't do that. I didn't want the day to go by without notice so I decided a few weeks back that I am going to buy something totally unnecessary that I want.
I can't say I have been living frugally; after all, I have a cleaning woman, a monthly mani/pedi, monthly help from a personal assistant, etc. and I bought two new tops for Oshkosh but I don't think I've bought any clothes or anything unnecessary in months. Ok, unnecessary can be defined lots of ways.
So now that I've given myself permission, I can't find anything I really want. I even looked in the fancy gift shops in the hotel in Daytona. I've been looking at catalogs and can't find anything. Then I decided as I pick little wispy feathers out of my bed pillows that maybe I'll buy four new luxurious bed pillows. I was happy about that until a friend nixed the idea by saying that new pillows is home maintenance, not splurging. I see her point, but I might still do that.
Since I won't be going out for dinner, I was thinking that I might do brunch instead and order a waffle from Gracie's Corner (coffee shop/diner) tomorrow which would be a treat. Maybe fresh squeezed orange juice as well, and not that everyday bottled kind the working folks are forced to drink.
Happy Birthday to me and many, many more.
